And the 2010 Staple! Winner Is...
Sultana Vest! Sultana's name was randomly drawn from a pool of over 40 people who entered the contest. She will receive a free Cranium Comics mouse pad, t-shirt, and ceramic mug, courtesy of Cranium Comics.
Once again, thanks to everyone for taking part in our "Win Free Cranium Gear" giveaway at Staple! this year. It was a real pleasure meeting all he folks who stopped by the booth and checked out all of our wares. Although only a handful said they remembered us from last year's "sampler" issue, it was a really great experience meeting everyone for the first time nonetheless. I was pleased with the overall turnout and was happy that people seemed to enjoy the stuff. All-in-all, we sold more comics and gear than we did last year, which is inspiring. Thank you to all of the folks that have been supporting the effort over the years. It really means a lot to me and motivates me to continue creating comics.
Recent News & Happenings
As some of you have already noted on Twitter, I recently posted an interview with Brawn 2 writer Ron Bates on the Cranium website. It was great working with Ron on issue number two, and after the event we brainstormed future ideas for the story, which include more surprises, twists, and turns. Staple! wasn't the last stop for Cranium Comics last weekend, as I was invited to speak on an Indie comics panel along with several other local creators at Dragon's Lair Comics that Sunday afternoon. I really enjoyed the camaraderie that developed from creators sharing their processes, successes, and challenges. Dragon's Lair was gracious in allowing us to present our work at various tables throughout the store and supplied snacks & drinks to all that attended. They even had an energy drink sponsor giving away free samples!
If you'd like to see pictures of both events, feel free to friend Cranium Comics on Facebook. I've posted over a dozen or so shots I took over the course of the weekend. You'll have to forgive me for not setting the account up as a "fan" page. Instead, I created a Cranium Comics persona not realizing a fan page might have been more appropriate. Ah well. It seems to work just fine.
As always, thank you for stopping by the booth and participating in my efforts. I'm committed to creating independent stories and appreciate everything you do to make that a reality for me. In addition to continuing the Brawn story, I'm especially excited about my new comic, The Curse. It'll be a departure from what I've published to date and I think you'll really dig it. Drop me a line if you've got something on your mind or just want to say "hi." I always love hearing from you.
Take care and keep supporting the indie comic scene!
Sincerely,
Anthony Rezendes
