And the 2009 Staple! Winner Is...
Brielle Erdie! Brielle won a free Cranium Comics mouse pad, t-shirt, and ceramic mug, courtesy of Cranium Comics.
Once again, thanks to everyone for taking part in our "Win Free Cranium Gear" giveaway at Staple! this year. This being my second year at the show, I'm starting to get comfortable with the format and always enjoy meeting the folks that stop by the booth. This year we added a free sampler to the comic line-up, which featured a few pages from the first issue and included a sneak peek at the cover for issue #2. I ended up printing less than I should've, and ran out with about an hour left to the convention. I guess "free" really is good :-)
Latest News & Events
There have been quite a few changes for Cranium over this past year. We've switched our website from series of static, html pages to a more dynamic, wordpress driven site. This allows us to facilitate more discussions around particular articles and makes it easier to create and archive stories. We've published a couple of articles that seem to be popular as of late. One is entitled "Modern Indie Comics Step-by-Step" and goes through the process of creating our first issue of Brawn from story to final artwork. A more recent addition to the site was an interview with Brandon Church, writer of our inaugural issue. Brandon shares his insights on how he started collecting comics, what inspires him as a writer, and who would play Brawn in the big screen adaptation of the movie. Future articles will include lessons learned from Staple!, interviews with the artist and publisher, and we'll lay out some of our future plans.
We've also created the Cranium Store where you can purchase copies of Brawn directly from the printer. I'm still getting around to adding some free desktops and icons to the mix, but will do so as soon as I find time. I'll also be posting additional samples including the sampler we had at the show.
Again, thank you everyone for stopping by the booth and checking us out again for the second year. We'll keep trying to push the envelope with our content and stories, so keep checking back. Drop me a line if you've got something on your mind or just want to say "hi." I always love hearing from folks.
Take care and keep supporting the indie comic scene!
Sincerely,
Anthony Rezendes
