CRANIUM SET TO MAKE ITS DEBUT APPEARANCE
Cranium Comics has officially signed on to attend the Staple! Independent Media Expo in Austin this year. After enjoying the event as a spectator last year & meeting some fun and talented folks including the guys from Repercussion Comics, Zebra Green Productions, and many others, it'll be a blast to actually participate. If you're at the event, make sure you stop by BOOTH 12A and sign up for your chance to win a bunch of cool Cranium Comics merchandise including mouse pads, mugs, free comics, and t-shirts. We'll be sharing a table with Keith Quinn & Susan Kath to our right and Marc Moorash and Heather Stanley of Seraphemera Books to our left. I'm looking forward to attending and meeting some interesting people.
Brawn #1 Finished
THE FIRST ISSUE OF BRAWN IS NOW COMPLETE
Two weeks ago we received the final printers proof for Brawn #1. Woohoo! Now that some minor tweaks have been made I'm happy to announce that the first issue of the series is on its way from the print shop. This first edition is a limited print run of 100 which will be numbered and available exclusively at the Staple! Expo on March first. Subsequent issues will be sold online through comixpress.com or the Cranum Store. Each issue is a 24-page, full color comic highlighting the story of Brawn written by Brandon Church and rendered masterfully by the talented Atula Siriwardane. Sample panels can be viewed in the Character Bios section.
Easy Rider, Cranium Style
ONE FAN DECIDES THAT THE BEST PLACE FOR THE CRANIUM LOGO IS ON HIS BIKE
The art of adorning motorcycles with graphics and symbols has been around for generations. Heck, even Jack Nicholson had the old stars and stripes painted on the tank of his road hog in the movie Easy Rider
. Well, it is with extreme prejudice that I say this mark is the best one i've ever seen emblazoned on any vehicle. With its distinctive orange and yellow vinyl, it really stands out against the glossy black tank and adds instant "street cred" to any weekend warrior who wishes to ride with the big dogs at the next Harley convention. Bravo, you magnificent bastard! Wear your new colors with pride.
Cranium at Scott McCloud Signing
NOW THAT'S A MIGHTY FINE T-SHIRT IF YOU ASK ME
Scott McCloud was at Austin Books recently promoting his book, Making Comics
. As a fan, I thought it important to venture out to discuss with Scott some of the concepts from his book, where he sees the alt comic industry headed, and his opinion on independent publishing. After waiting in line for about an hour, I finally had my chance. In addition to getting to speak with Scott, his family was on hand to keep fans in the line entertained as they waited for their introduction. Austin Books also was a gracious host, offering cupcakes emblazoned with the icons from Scott's book and free drinks.

First Issue of Brawn in Production

The final black and white illustrations are being rendered and should be completed by the end of January. Once they are in hand, the actual coloring and lettering work will begin. We are hoping for an July limited release with which we will seed to selected vendors. At that point we are hoping to post sample concept art and plot outlines. Stay tuned!Other Stories
